Jeffreys Bay Street Carnival on 17 June

Tomorrow, 17 June, the Dorp van Drome organisation is holding a big Street Carnival in Jeffreys Bay, involving a procession and a Flash Mob among other festivities.

The Jeffreys Bay ‘Dorp van Drome’  is a civic organisation without a political agenda that strives to beautify Jeffrey’s Bay through projects. Its mission is to make Jeffreys Bay a town to be proud of, where all inhabitants have self-respect and where everyone that is not yet living here, will aspire to live in.

Everyone is welcome to attend and to join in the festivities associated with the carnival. Participants are asked to be at  the parking area on the corner of  Diaz and Swart at 9 am (opposite Spur) .

There will then be a roll call of participants. As various groups are called they will move to Diaz Street  to the Dolphin Statue.

The Mayor will open the festivities at 10 am at the Dolphin Statue.

The procession will then proceed along Diaz, through Town and back to the starting point. A  Flash Mob will take place at 12 noon on the lawn in front of the Dolphin Statue.

The provisional order is:

  1. Band
  2. Baroness,  Face of Africa
  3. Netball players
  4. Water cart of the Dromers
  5. Individual participants
  6. Gumboot Dancers
  7. Boat with tiny sailors
  8. NSRI boat  
  9. Soccer players
  10. Pellsrus Klopse
  11. Veteran motors
  12. Bikers

 The  route of the procession is:

  • Start at the Dolphin Statue
  • Walk west to the Billabong Village Billabong Village
  • Walk through the Billabong Village
  • East down Da Gama
  • Left in Oosterland, right in St Francis
  • Right in Schelde up to  Diaz
  • West in Diaz up to the Dolphin Statue
