Five suspects aged 17-28 were arrested after a business robbery at Greenbushes’ Supermarket yesterday, 21 March at about 12:30 pm.
Nine-armed suspects allegedly entered the shop on Seaview Road and threatened the complainant, and his co-workers, ordering them to lie on the ground. The suspects ransacked the store and fled with various items, including cartons of cigarettes, vapes, sweets, cash, cellphones and watches, with an estimated value of R80 000.

Police responded swiftly and were alerted to a vehicle accident on Old Seaview (De Stades) Road, Chelsea, possibly linked to the robbery. Eye witnesses said suspects driving two vehicles collided on De Stades Road, Colleen Glen, after their involvement in the Greenbushes business robbery . Suspects fled the scene after the accident. Upon arrival, members spotted six suspects fleeing the scene. After a brief foot chase, and with the assistance of private security, five suspects were apprehended.
Stolen items, including cigarettes, sweets and a large amount of cash, were recovered from the vehicles involved, a silver VW Polo and a white Ford Fiesta. Both vehicles were seized for further investigation. No firearms were recovered.

The suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate court during the week. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing, and efforts to trace the remaining suspects continue.
