Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, will tomorrow, 16 April, attend the significant R4-billion Volkswagen Africa Group (VWA) investment announcement in Kariega, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
The momentous occasion will mark VWA additional investment in the manufacturing of a third small SUV model at the Kariega Plant from 2027. The investment signals and reaffirms the commitment of Volkswagen Group to South Africa and the African continent.
This investment is seen by Province as a necessary condition for the growth of the economy and the creation of jobs on a scale that will significantly reduce levels of unemployment in the province.
An announcement about the occasion tomorrow, released to the media today, says says investment in production sectors of the economy is vital to the Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts in reducing poverty and inequality. “VWA continues to play a substantial role in the economic development of the province, by creating job opportunities especially for the youth.”
