Walk between two harbours for Cop 17 on Saturday

This Saturday there will be a Two Harbours Walk in support of the COP 17 Climate Change Convention in Durban.

The Sea Pledge Two Harbours Walk is organised by Gypsea Marine Eco Tours for the Sustainable Seas Trust. Everyone is invited to join in to show their support.

The Sea Pledge Coastal Road Tour visited Port St Francis last week to inform residents of Jeffreys Bay and St Francis Bay of Cop 17.

Supporters can sign a petition to the UN on Saturday to declare an International Year of the Ocean, plus sign their own pledges if they wish, to save the ocean.

The Heritage Centre will be open from 10 am so people can collect pledge forms. The walk will start from here (the former habour at Granny’s Pool) and continue to the new harbour at Port St Francis.

The leisurely walk will start at 11 am and continue to  the port where pledges will be handed over to Johan Barnard, the Harbour Master, who will send them to COP 17.

Those who cannot make the walk on Saturday, can request an email copy of the pledge form from Sam Bester of Gypsea. Tel: 083 772 2112

There will be gatherings countrywide this Saturday (3 December 2011) as people demonstrate their support of the SEA Pledge campaign
