Though looking worn the Sand River bridge is still holding after this week’s soaking rains. The bridge is on the only access road to St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
The following photos (bar one from last year) were taken at 6 pm on 3 February 2011.
Photos show how storm water has eroded the bank above the outflow pipes.
And immediately below is a photo what the bridge looked like when rebuilt for the second time (October 2011).
Photo below shows the recent effect of storm waters… The weather bureau anticipates flash flooding in the Eastern Cape today (4 February 2011)…
