St Francis Bay Golf Club, its staff, caterers and caddies are gearing up for the club’s premier event, the 14th Calamari Classic which runs from 22—24 September this year.
A record number of 256 players have registered this year with players from all over South Africa and even abroad. There are still players on a waiting list – a big indication of how popular this event has become over the past 13 years.

The Club thanks Calamari organising committee members for their tireless effort to make this year’s event the best ever. And the club says a special thank you to the main sponsors, Barloworld Equipment, South African Breweries and Henry Tayler and Ries. Without them this event would not be possible.
A new addition to this year’s event is a prize for the first hole-in-one each day to the value of R4000.
Course staff, under the watchful eye of Pikke Langenhoven, the course superintendent, will be on duty as early as 4 am every morning to ensure the greens, fairways and tees have been cut and bunkers raked before the first T-off time of 6.15 am.
The clubhouse will be open from 5:30 am every day to assist all golfers getting ready for the day’s play. Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the day.
Family and friends can look forward to three days of good golf, fun, food and entertainment.
Each day will be concluded with an individual prize-giving ceremony and the main prize giving will be on Saturday evening.
Entertainment and supper starts after prize giving and people can boogie until the early hours of the morning.
