‘St Francis Rocks’ campaign launched today

A St Francis Rocks campaign has been officially launched today.  Its aim is to raise funds for the Friends of St Francis Fire and Rescue charity.

The charity will benefit the Fire Service, the NSRI and other rescue operations in the community.

The campaign is a way of enabling businesses to help St Francis’ rescue heroes, such as the NSRI volunteers and the local fire fighters, to keep up the good work they are doing. Funds will  be raised not through donations but through sponsorship.

In doing so so the rescue organisations get the equipment they so badly need to perform rescues  to the best of their ability.

Businesses are invited to show support by sponsoring a run of badges, magnets or bumper stickers and let their sponsorship grow. Badges can be be sold for R10 and magnets and stickers for R12.

Organisers of the St Francis Rocks campaign say many people really want to help following the dreadful fire on 11 November that destroyed 76 homes on the canals. However, many people do not have the time to be a fire fighter or NSRI volunteer.

“This way we we can all give them our support,” says Barry Tonkin, who is spear-heading the St Francis Rocks campaign and who is one of its masterminds .
