SA municipal staffers get IS fin training in Kouga

Municipal staffers from all over South Africa were in Kouga last week for a two-day information systems workshop.

The workshop is a quarterly fixture aimed at training staff on new financial management features on the IS systems and brainstorming possible improvements. It was presented by Bytes SI, the company behind the SAMRAS financial management system used by municipalities across South Africa.

Kouga’s Executive Mayor, Booi Koerat,  said it was an honour for Kouga to be chosen as hosts of the gathering. “It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hospitality of our area,” he said. “The knowledge our staff gain at these session also go a long way towards improving municipal operations.”

The mayor further thanked those local businesses who had supported the workshop, including, Woodlands Dairy, Eastern Cape Market, Oasis Water, FNB, Tapas and Milkwood Estate.

The 60 municipal staff at the workshop came from as far a field as Mier in theNorthern Cape, Polokwane in Limpopo andCape Town in theWestern Cape.
