In a surprise result local St Francis Bay golfer, Clive Rabie, again came in second and won another golf bag after receiving one for his second placing yesterday. Rabie, who returned a score of 38 pts, up from his 35 yesterday, is determined to make a hat trick today, being the final day of this great event, though his eye is definitely on the top spot.

Though the sun shone brightly intermittently throughout the day, the icy snow winds that were also extremely strong made playing conditions difficult, to put it mildly.

Several players gave up and returned home but the brave and courageous played gallantly on. Scores improved marginally from the day before.

Rabie was followed into 3rd place by Fred van Eyssen with 38, by Rowan Nicholls in 4th with 37 and Tony Carlson in 5th place with 37.

The day’s sponsor was Henry Tayler and Ries and many players received bottles of liquor to take home.

During prize giving, again officiated by Caroline Kettlewell and Club Captain Ian Price, the management of the GC and the organising committee, plus the sponsors were again thanked.
