NSRI St Francis Bay sent their sea rescue craft Spirit of St Francis II to assist the Jeffreys Bay rescue station after the latter’s jetski sustained motor failure. The NSRI team members were on standby during today’s Billabong Pro Final.
The surfing contest was temporarily delayed while the jet-ski and NSRI skipper drifted in the Easterly wind.
NSRI St Francis Bay took the NSRI skipper onboard the rescue craft; the jet-ski was strapped alongside and skipper and jet-ski were brought safely ashore. Only then did the surfing contest continue.
