A 19 year-old man was shot dead in Storms River early this morning 21 August, and the local SAPS police have already arrested a 44 year-old suspect on a murder charge.
It is alleged the victim and the suspect quarrelled outside a tavern in the area. There was a group of males with them.
At 3.15 am the suspect took his licensed firearm and allegedly shot the victim, who died on his way to hospital..
It is also alleged group then went and robbed the tavern owner at gunpoint and fled with cash, liquor and electronic equipment in two vehicles. Police responded and arrested 22 suspects on a charge of business robbery. Police also confiscated two firearms – one licensed and one unlicensed 9mm with 6 rounds – plus 20 small packets of tik and 5g of dagga were also seized.
Several of the stolen goods were recovered and police also confiscated the two getawau vehicles. The suspects aged 18 – 46 are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on 23 August on various charges.
