Some residents of Umzamawhetu Township in the Oyster Bay area of St Francis are striking this morning, 23 June.
They say they are striking because of many grievances but mainly because subcontractors to the Kouga Wind Farm who employ them are paying them less than other workers on other wind farms, a resident from this township said.
The township residents are burning rubber tyres and toyi-toyi-ing opposite the creche and it is believed they have tried to prevent people travelling on the road. It is believed that the SAP are monitoring the situation.
The strike follows hot on the heels of the strike in St Francis Bay on 21 June.
