Pradeep Maharaj has been appointed as chief operating officer of the Reserve Bank.
Yesterday (12 September 2012), the bank said the chief operating officer, a newly-created position, will be responsible for the support services cluster of the bank.
Maharaj, whose appointment takes effect on 1 November, has been head of human resources and transformation at Absa Capital since November 2011. He has also worked for Transnet and the Gauteng Provincial Government Department of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Maharaj holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science from Unisa and a Senior Executive Programme certificate from Harvard and Wits Business Schools.
“The Bank welcomes and takes this opportunity to wish him well as he takes up his new challenges and responsibilities,” the central bank said in a statement.
