Three youngsters were rushed to hospital after a white bakkie (van) crashed into a Buco electric fence and a pillar at about 9 am this morning at Buco St Francis Bay premises in Tarragona Road.

The driver was unconscious and he and two passengers are now in hospital. The one passenger has a broken jaw while injuries to the third passenger are unknown. The trio are reported to be locals .

Wendy Wills of Buco St Francis Bay store in Tarragona Road says it is unclear how the accident happened but it occurred after the driver came round the bend. The impact on the pillar and electric fence caused a fire .
The fire brigade and police were summoned. The SAPS and municipal officials were on the scene and the van was towed away.

The municipal fire brigade and fire engines were soon on the scene and extinguished the fire. Plus an ambulance and paramedics took the three youngsters to hospital.
Wills says the corner section of the electric fence now needs to be replaced. Plus there are damages to the premises next door. The municipality has repaired the fire hydrant as water was gushing out when it was damaged in the accident.

Wills also says that outside the petrol station in St Francis Bay there was a hit and run reported. A light colour Landcruiser crashed into the back of a Buco workman. When the workman alighted from his vehicle, the driver of the Landcruiser drove fast away. It is believed the same Landcruiser has apparently been involved in another local accident as well.
