Lady golfer in top spot on Day 2 of the Calamari Classic Golf

Alison Kantor, Day 2's Winner at the Calamari Classic Golf at St Francis Bay Golf Club yesterday.

Lady golfer, Alison Kantor, trounced the men and was announced the winner of Day 2 in the Calamari Classic Golf  yesterday.

Alison, aka Ali, with a handicap of 23 achieved 40 points. Following her into 2nd place was Wynand van Biljon with a handicap of 17 and 39 points. The next five top places of the day went to Wynand van Biljon with 39, followed by MJ de Bruyn 38,  Louis de Villiers  37, Brian Neary 37 and Donovan Coenraad 37.

After two days golf and in the running for the Overall Men’s spot are: Donovan Coenraad with 76 (pts), Geoff Raasch 75, followed by Fouche Swart, Garth Enslin and Andre Pretorius each with 71. Ladies currently in the Top 5 vying for the Overall Ladies titles are Heather Rabie with 69, Renee Botha 66, Renee Wales 62, Ali Kantor 61 and  Debbie Hite, 60.

The fierce wind still played havoc with players’ golfing performances yesterday. Highlight of the day that was also the most fun moment of the Calamari Classic so far was when a player, Warren, teed up on the 15th T box . He aimed well to the left so that he would not hit into the road. He played his shot over the next 14th T box , over the 13th green and landed next to the ladies’12th  T box – he was some 30 metres short of being out of bounds. What a drive! He got fined R20!

A favourite entertainer with St Francis Bay diners is Thommo from PE who gives great renditions of popular music hits.

Back at the clubhouse the jovial ambiance was still in force last night and after dinner Thommo from PE wowed attendees at the Club with his crooning voice and renditions of great ballads and top music hits.

Tonight at the 7 pm prize giving the overall winner of the three days golfing will be announced and several trophies will be presented including the Calamari Classic trophy and the Old Man (Best golfer over 50) trophy will be presented.

St Francis Bay’s resident DJ, JohanCronje, who got the crowds rocking on Friday night will be at the Club once again this evening to get everyone partying the night away.
