Jeffreys Bay beaches are officially open again.
No further sightings of the shark have been reported since the shark attack that reportedly casued the death of JBay open water swimmer, Burgert van der Westhuizern on Friday 11 October.
Kouga Municipality in a statement released today says that lifeguards and the NSRI remain on the alert. “While every effort is made to keep swimmers and surfers safe, there is always risk involved when one enters the sea. No-one can predict what may or may not happen. We ask that people bare this mind and take every precaution when spending time at/in the sea,” the municipality says.
The beaches were closed on Friday after the attack and remained closed all weekend as a precautionary measure.
