Six to eight foot waves have greeted the international surfers at the JBay Open in Jeffreys Bay today.
This event, stop No 6 of 11 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour, has been called On. The powerful waves are expected to increase in size during the day.
Competition starts at 8 am with Round 5. The four 35-minute heats will be followed by the Quarterfinals and then the first instalment of the Heritage Series, where legendary surfers and former ASP World Champions, Tom Curren (USA) and Mark Occhilupo (AUS), will renew their storied rivalry of the 1980’s and ‘90’s.
This will be followed by the Semifinals and Final. So there is a likelihood the overall JBay Open champion could be crowned today.
