High Tides – NSRI Urgent Safety Alert – Be extra careful about swimming in the sea

Edited- NSRI reminds all South Africans along the coastlines that the peak of the full moon Spring high tide, expected between 2 pm and 3 pm this afternoon, is of grave concern for coastal bathers around the South African Coast, today, 26 November.

The Spring high tide peaks between 2 pm and 3pm – receding in an outgoing tide towards Spring low tide during the late afternoon today. During Spring Tides there are higher than normal high tides and lower than normal low tides and stronger, dangerous rip currents.

NSRI, lifeguards the emergency services, Police and municipal beach authorities urgently appeal to bathers to be cautious of expected strong rip currents to today, especially during the late afternoon today, Sunday, and for the next few days.
