An icy cold set in today following snowfalls on mountain ranges to the north and south of St Francis. At least 20 mm of rain was recorded in parts of St Francis Bay this afternoon, 13 July 2012
From Port Elizabeth to Storms River, reports came in of heavy downpours today, particularly this afternoon. Motorists reported poor visibility at times – fog-like conditions as thick as pea soup prevailed in some places, causing motorists to drive very slowly.
Water was running down the sides of roads or across roads, plus dams were building up again alongside roads. Reports of some homes in Sea Vista being flooded started coming in this evening.
Up at the Links there was no sign of any floods early this evening. Emergency services reported things were calm and running fine
Then the Sand River Bridge with its sandbags as fortifications was holding strong. . Some trenches had been dug to divert water in several places round town.
