Forthcoming Event: Big Swimarathon in SFB and JBay

Swimming enthusiasts in St Francis Bay and Jeffreys Bay will once again participate in the Rotary Global Swimarathon for 2013.

Last year St Francis swimmers contributed towards establishing a new Guiness World Record and boasted having the youngest swimmer in the world participating – 8 year-old Jessica Brown.

Globally the event raised an amazing $105 000 for the fantastically successful Rotary End Polio Now Campaign.

Rotary International has registered more than 90 clubs so far from all over the world. Each club will be undertaking an hour’s swim on or around  23 February with the aim of having as many swimmers as possible swimming for the event covering either a distance of 40m or 100m depending on their skill.

Entry fees for adults are R50 and for children R20 with all entry fees going toward supporting the End Polio Now Campaign.

The St Francis event will take place on 19 February at the  Hotel Pool, Diana Crescent, St Francis Bay at 5 pm.

The Rotary Club of Jeffreys Bay will also participate with their swim taking place at 8 am on 23 February at Marina Martinique.

St Francis Rotarians’ boerie braai team promises a braai to remember for those who are peckish after their swim.

Those keen to participate in the St Francis Swimarathon can contact Lyn Aitken on 0827775624 or e-mail lyn@inspectahome.co.za.
