Fire victims need help   – 13 shacks burn down in St Francis Bay

There was a big fire in Ward 1 Sea Vista,  at Cosovo settlement, on the way to Cape St Francis in the St Francis Bay area of the Eastern Cape.

There are 27 people and seven children left destitute

Fortunately no deaths were reported in the blaze, which the fire department could not save. However, the fire was stopped and prevented more shacks going up in smoke.

There was one injury though –  the face of a 52 year-old man was burnt as he was in the a shack where the fire started.

The 27 fire victims who lived in those 13 shacks and 7 children, are staying temporarily in other shacks with friends until they can find a permanent place to stay.

The St Francis Disaster  Group for fires, DVG speedily donated some mattresses and blankets, which were delivered to the fire victims

The Cosovo people say the fire victims are still in dire need anything of  importance in a home, such as a bed, sheets, linen, crockery, plus food parcels.  cup, plate, bowl, cutlery etc, clothes, shoes, bedding etc

Clothing for adults, men and women children aged   1- n11 months, and 3-8 years-old are needed.

People who would like to donate items can send a WA Amanda or Zameke  (the Ward Councillor –  Nozuko’s assistants –  on  078 217 8524;  063 455 0819 respectively. They can ask what else to send and when to deliver to the Ward Councillor’s office.

One can also donate funds to the DVG bank account;

St Francis residents have been asked to donate just a few Rands to help the fire victims.
