Elderly Santareme resident hit on head with a golf stick

A St Francis Bay resident resident in his 70s was hit over the head with a golf stick today in his garden by a man wanting food or money late this afternoon.

Two men were reportedly in his Santareme garden after 4 pm and while the home owner was talking and confronting them, one of the men allegedly went into the house and grabbed a golf stick.  The elderly man managed to get away and apparently shouted out, alerting neighbours who came to his aid.

The men managed to get away and police are looking for them.

A local doctor attended to the resident who thereafter went to Humansdorp Hospital for further treatment.

  1. ”Do not let anyone who you do not know onto your premisis where possible. Ensure when not outdoors all the doors are locked and other entrances locked bolted or secured. Any strange person found wandering on your premises, must be reported to the police immediately. Secure all entrances to the premises as already stated. Do not communicate with anyone found wandering around premises. Let the people who are trained to do so, Police, Security or Law Enforcement officers deal with the situation. ”Stay Safe, Stay Healthy!”
