After using third party contractors to carry out the dredging of the canals the Riparian Homeowners Association (RHOA) decided to construct its own dredger unique to the St Francis Bay canals system.
Third Party contractors were not prepared to move their dredgers to smaller pockets of sand build-up stating it was sub-economic. In addition in some instances the dredger was unable to operate within the more narrow canals.
The RHOA says the new dredger is well advanced and likely to be commissioned prior to the holiday season. The full benefits of this dredger will only be felt next year when more extensive areas can be worked on.
