A fun dog show, a box cart race and a soccer event are all part of a most exciting SuperSpar St Francis Bay Sparnival Day next month.
Proceeds from the day’s events on 10 December will benefit Sea Vista Primary School, the SPCA and the April Blossom fund.
SuperSpar, together with St Francis Tourism and the professional event skills of Jo Brown and co, are currently organising a great family day that young and old can enjoy.
The dog show that opens the Sparnival is sure to be the main highlighter and attraction. Everyone is invited to bring their ‘best of show’ dogs , or their mutts, scruffs, moth-eaten and hilarious specimens, pint size or as big as bears, the cutest, ugliest or the ones who look the most like their owners. There is sure to be an entry category that fits your best friend. And you may just win you or him or her a great prize.
The dog show will take place between 10 am – 12 pm at on the public lawn parking adjacent to Kouga Municipality.
Then after lunch soccer fans are in for a treat to participate in or watch ‘5 -A-Side’ soccer at the open field next to the tennis courts in St Francis Drive. The categories are U11, U14, U16 and Seniors. The entry fee is R60 p/p.
Not least, and planned for the evening on Sparnival Day, is a Box Car Race along St Francis Drive.
Those who would like to particpate can start building their own fantastic or outrageous dream machines. There are some stipulations:
* 3 or 4 wheels no engines;
*1 Driver, 2 pushers for 1 lap then swap;
* Up to 6 per team;
* Pit stop change overs.
The organisers have 10 cars in their basic form and they are offering these to local St Francis children (of school going ages) to dress up and decorate – there will be a prize for the best dressed box car.
There will be prizes for, among other categories, the good, the fast, the ugly and funny. There will also be a night market and some carnival-type games while the box cart race is on the go.
Registration is at 4 pm and the race starts at 5 pm. The entry fee is R50 for U/16, and R100 for the 17 years and older class.
