Desree Swarts, 38, the winner of the SuperSpar St Francis Bay Talent Show 2012

Desree, 38, was over the moon when her name was announced as being the winner of this local round. She walked away with flowers, a huge hamper and several gift vouchers from SuperSpar and other local shops.

The Traditional  African Dancers took 2nd place and a charming Laura was placed a close third.

Laura Harris, 27, put on a fine performance

Judges took some while to deliberate on who the eventual winner would be as there was tough competition. . Among the contenders for the top spot was Laura who struck a most elegant pose as a singer, then there were the traditional dancers who wowed everyone with their gyrations and movements. They even put on a mock, but fierce war battle and a sorcerer’s dance!

In thanking everyone, Richard Moolman and Andre Koekemoer of SuperSpar St Francis Bay singled out the judges and participants, plus all the sponsors and organisers – without whose support the event would not have been possible.

The SuperSpar local talent show is part of the SuperSpar Eastern Cape Talent Show. Desree will now go through to the second round of this provincial SuperSpar competition that will be held in PE. There will also be preliminary finals in East London and Queenstown. Then there will be the big final round where the three winners  from PE, EL and Queenstown respectively, will compete for the top spot that will earn the overall winner R20 000 and other prizes.

St Francis Chronicle wishes Desree all the best in the rest of this exciting event in the weeks ahead.
