Despatch man arrested for perjury

A 55 year-old man was arrested by SAP Despatch detectives this morning, 26 March 2015,  for perjury.

The man, who works at a second-hand shop in Despatch, claimed in a statement to the SAP on 23 March that he was robbed at gunpoint  of R10 000 by men who fled in  in vehicle parked outside the shop.

On investigation, it was revealed the shop was never robbed and police arrested the man, who is due in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Friday, 27 March, on charges ranging from perjury to theft.

Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phillip Salukazana, praised the SAP members for their excellent investigation skills and warned the public not to underestimate the SAP’s abilities.
