Brian Cunningham is representing St Francis Links Golf Estate and the Eastern Cape at this year’s Sanlam Cancer Challenge Finals this weekend.

Cunningham led all qualifiers in his division at Uitenhage last weekend, according to Jeff Clause of St Francis Links Golf Estate in St Francis Bay. Cunningham and 98 other amateur golfers from all corners of South Africa are gearing up to compete in the Finals at Sun City on 24 and 25 October.
The golfing Challenge is a partnership between Sanlam and the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). Sanlam has sponsored the event since 1993. This year more than 36 000 golfers participated in 800 club competitions countrywide and it is anticipated that R2.5 million could be raised.
The competition consists of individual stableford format and players are split into three divisions. For female participants, players with 0 to 16 handicap compete in the A-division, 17 to 24 in the B-division and 25 to 36 in the C-division. For the men, it is 0 to 9 in the A-division, 10 to 18 in the B-division and 19 to 30 in the C-division.
“We are looking forward to some stiff competition at Sun City and wish Cunningham all the best. His contribution in supporting this worthy cause is what it is all about,” says Gary van Loggerenberg, Sanlam’s sponsorship manager.
