A body of a baby was recovered from a grave in a back garden of a Sea Vista property this morning, 23 June by St Francis Bay police,
The police acted following a tip off from a family member in this St Francis Bay suburb. An inquest into the death of a child is being carried out by the SAP Forensics department and the mother of the child has been questioned.
Captain Gerda Swart of the Uitenhage SAPS Media liaison said St Francis Bay SAPS is investigating an inquest. “It is alleged that the mother gave birth, and the she says it was a stillbirth. A post mortem will be conducted. No arrest was made,” Captain Swart said.
Outside the house this morning neighbours said dogs and birds had been scratching in the yard of the house. They said the police dug up the body which was taken to Forensics.
The burial allegedly took place on Tuesday, this week, 21 June.
