The SAPS in Uitenhage urges people to be more vigilant when doing electronic transactions.
This warning comes after police received several reports from people who have engaged in on line transactions, especially when it comes to goods and services advertised on line. In most incidents perpetrators lured victims into paying huge amounts of cash through bank transfers or other payment methods for goods or services, which they never receive even after payment was done.
Victims also purchase products that are advertised through the Internet or social media. These items are sometimes not delivered and may not be worth buying.
