With only inconsistent, small o1-2 foot (0.5 metre) waves on offer this morning event organisers of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay again called competition off for the day.
The Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay has completed only a round a half of competition. A promising swell on the charts has raised hopes that the remaining heats of Round 2 of the comeptition could start in the next few days.
“Small surf again today so we’ve called competition off,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “It can be frustrating, but this is why we have waiting periods. We are still tracking some promising swell for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, possibly filling in tomorrow so we’ll look to get underway here again soon.”
Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, are calling for a solid SSW swell to begin filling in late tomorrow and build through the weekend.
Event organisers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7 am to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start.
