Pretoria man died in Jet-Ski accident at Eerste Rivier

A jet-ski claimed the life of a man at Eerste River on Sunday this weekend.

The 53 year-old Pretoria man launched a jet-ski from the beach in relatively calm sea conditions, said Justin Erasmus, NSRI Port Elizabeth deputy station commander.

The incident occurred at 3.15 pm on in 6 January while the man was on holiday at Eerste Rivier between Oyster Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

He negotiated a wave but on the second wave’s approach launched into the air and upon landing it is suspected the man the man may have hit his head on the jet-ski before falling off.

He was recovered from the surf by Erasmus with the assistance of his friends. CPR efforts were initiated. EC Government Health EMS and Police arrived on-scene and paramedics declared the man dead.

The body was handed to Forensic Pathology Services and the SAP have opened an inquest docket.
