Some St Francis companies have banded together to start a pothole project to raise R500 000 to repair potholes in St Francis. Pledges to the amount of R70 000 have been received so far.
Ferdi and Johan Dippenaar initiated this project.
Anyone willing to pledge funds can telephone Johan Dippenaar on 073 014 0169 to register their pledge. All funds will be collected by Nigel Aitken, the project manager who will provide the bank details. His number is: 082 465 3719.
Six residents of Sea Vista will be sent on a week’s course in Port Elizabeth to be professionally trained on how to repair pootholes. Asphalt suppliers in Port Elizabeth will assist with the training . On their return the pothole repairers will work under Aitken.
Commenting on the pothole repair offer, Kouga’s mayor, Booi Koerat, said: “We are grateful for the willingness of the St Francis Bay community to take hands with the municipality for the improvement of our area.
“We do, however, need to discuss details of the offer with Johan Dippenaar to ensure all legal requirements are met.
“Fixing the roads is a priority for us so we will finalise discussions as soon as possible.”
