St Francis Bay policemen, acting on a tip off received this morning, arrested a man with Mandrax tablets hidden in his underpants and carrying a shopping bag containing several marijuana envelopes. The total value of the drugs confiscated amounts to around R10 000 police say

According to Captain Kiviet, station commander of the SAP St Francis Bay, Constable Montgomery Lippert received the tip off this morning that a man would be bringing drugs back from PE and would be travelling by taxi to St Francis this afternoon.
At 1.45 pm Lippert, together with Constables Deon Murray and Nolubabalo Mtenjana, staged a road block at the entrance to St Francis Bay.
At 2.45 pm they pulled over a taxi with licence plates matching those provided by the informant. All the packed taxi’s passengers had to descend form the vehicle and were all searched. A 25 year-old man was found carrying a shopping bag with many envelopes of marijuana. A further body search of the same man revealed he had hidden something between his legs. It was then discovered that the man had hidden a plastic packet containing 70+ Mandrax tablets in his underpants. The drugs were confiscated by police.
Kiviet relates that the man travelled the entire distance from PE with the tablets in his underpants. The man, who police say lives in Sea Vista, was apprehended by the police and taken to Humansdorp police cells where he will spend the weekend before his appearance in court on Monday.
Captain Kiviet congratulated her officers for a job well done.
