No electricity for many as boat out-riggers hit powerlines

The out-riggers of a boat that was being towed behind a truck hit the power lines in Tarragona Road, Sea Vista at about 9 am today, causing a power failure for almost 5 hours in parts of the St Francis Bay village area, in the area around upper Assisi Drive, in Santareme and at the Port today.

A spokesman for the boating company said they were busy investigating the incident.

An electrician at the scene pointed out that the boat, vehicle and driver could have been badly shocked if the boat had not had rubber on it.
