Car lands in Sand River…
The driver of a car that swerved off the Sand River bridge last night ran away.
The police are now looking for the driver, who is from Hankey, according to Captain Kievit of the local St Francis Bay SAP. The car plunged into the river.
Two injured passengers were taken to hospital.
Captain Kievit says police believe the driver was drunk as he had bolted from the crash scene. The car was going back to Hankey when it went off the bridge.
Beer bottles were found at the scene of the crash. Police organised for a tow truck to take the car away.
This is about the 10th known accident at the temporary Sand River Bridge.
