Excitement mounts for SuperSpar Box car race

After the success of the Christmas Box Car race, St Francis Bay’s SuperSpar has decided to make this a twice yearly event.

Everyone is invited to join in the fun on the public holiday Friday, 27 April 2012, says event organiser , Jo Brown. “We have 12 cars supplied by Spar which are available to be dressed/pimped up. Let me know if you want one, or you are very welcome to make your own…..min 3 wheels, no engines and preferably a brake! ”

Below are some highlights from the Christmas Box Car race:

The race starts at 5pm. Cars have to in the downstairs Spar car park by 4.30 pm for ‘best dressed car’ judging for each category.  The route will be shorter but consist of more laps and a challenge changeover stop.

The juniors (under 14s) will race separately to the adults. Entry is R50 per team for juniors, and R100 per team for adults…

“Will there be a race off to find the fastest estate agent team, the speediest restaurant, the quickest friends or families?” Jo asks.

“After the excitement of the races everyone can join in on an evening of fun, food and live music with the SuperSpar Calamari Festival.  Local chefs will each be cooking calamari for you to sample. You can vote for your favourite chef who will win a donation to the charity of their choice.”
