The South African junior surfing team are in Playa Venao before the start of the 2012 Dakine ISA World Junior Surfing Championships this weekend.
The Dakine ISA World Junior Championships, presented by Billabong, gets under way with the Parade of Nations and Sands of the World Ceremony on Saturday (tomorrow 14 April) with the heats starting at two podiums on Sunday. More than 250 surfers from 31 countries are taking part in the 10th edition of this event.
Peru is the defending champion, having beatenSouth Africainto second place last year.

South African Team captain, Slade Prestwich, Dylan Lightfoot, Max Armstrong, Steff Burrows, Matt McGillivray, Nicolle Pallet, Chanelle Botha, Josh Smit and Mikey Venter were awarded their colours last Friday at the Colours Awards ceremony in Durban.

All the team members arrived in Panama Coty on Wednesday morning this week. The drive to Playa Venao, the venue for the 10 day long ISA World Junior Championships, took six hours.
Today South Africatakes on New Zealand in the 10th anniversary of the Lotto SANZ Challenge. South Africa have won the SANZ encounter since 2009 and will be hoping to bring the unique trophy back home again on April 25..
