The St Francis Kromme Trust invites everyone to join Caryl and Godfriend and the St Francis Kromme Trust for a wonderful afternoon enjoying one of St Francis Bay’s ‘treasures’ – the Community Garden.
The picnic in the garden will take place on the afternoon of 14 March 2012.
March is that time of the year when the spectacular Giant Brunsvigia’s [ Brunsvigia litoralis] will be flowering. They are very close to where the picnic will be held so its not a long walk to see them. They are not to be confused with the smaller Brunsvigia we are more familiar with.
The local botanical experts Caryl and Godfried will be taking those interested on a longer walk through the gardens. Many people often wonder about the name of particular plants or trees that grow around St Francis, So now is the chance to get them identified as most species of local indigenous plants can be found growing in the Community Gardens.
Caryl will also be sharing her knowledge about the different snails found in St Francis Bay.
Those who do not wish to walk are invited to sit and take in the tranquil surrounds of the Gardens while enjoying the company of fellow members and tucking into a picnic.
Everyone is asked to bring their own picnic food and beverages and to wear appropriate shoes and hat .
Everyone should meet in the lower part of the garden at around 3.30 pm. Chairs will be provided.
