According to a foreman at the construction site at the broken Sand River bridge, a new double lane bridge has been built on the Links side of the old bridge. Speaking in an unofficial capacity, the foreman advised the road would be strong , built with compacted wet sand and gravel.
Asked if the road would be able to accommodate heavy pantechnikons and tankers, like a petrol tanker, he replied in the affirmative. He added that two tankers or two pantechnikons would not be able to cross the bridge at the same time.
