Update on potholes and beach repairs

Nigel Aitken, who is heading up a roads and infrastructure portfolio for St Francis Bay Residents’ Association, is back from leave. Here is his report on the current status of the potholes and beach repairs:

“I am back from leave today and am pleased to report that in my absence, significant progress has been made with the pothole filling project. Unfortunately this will not continue today and tomorrow as both St Francis Bay and Humansdorp teams have been pulled away to attend to a crisis in Oyster Bay.

“The repair work to the car park area at Nevil Road has started but is not complete. However they have started painting the beach ablution block.

“I have been advised by council that they have no money to rebuild the stairway to the beach in  Frank Road. I will be taking this matter to a higher authority.

“Council has also advised me that money has been made available for a proper repair to our main water pipeline across the Sand River.

“The good news is that the widening of the temporary causeway over the SandRiver has commenced today. Once this has been widened, it will be tarred.”
