Lettie wins regional boerewors competition

Lettie Rachman of the Butcher Shop, St Francis Bay, is the winner of a regional round of Shoprite Checkers’ Championship Boerewors Competition held at Checkers Jeffreys Bay Mall.

Lettie won R1200 Shoprite or Checkers meat vouchers and gift hampers from Coca Cola, All Gold and Simba. She will now compete against seven other Eastern Cape regional winners at the provincial round on 17 September for a place in the final.

The last 24 regional winners in the competition were announced at the regional rounds on 27 August. Xolile Prince Banisi from Port Elizabeth came in second after Lettie, and Olivier Kritzinger from Joubertina earned third place.

The competition ends on  8 October. On this day 10 provincial winners will compete in a big cook-off at Sun City to determine who will wear the 2011 Boerewors Crown.

The 2011 winning recipe will be on the shelves of all Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores by 19 October.
