Former and legendary Springboks will be swapping their boots for board again during the SA Longboard Championships from 27 April – 4th May, Seal Point, Cape St Francis on 27 April.

On Friday 2 May a special part of the contest sees legendary Springboks like Andy Marinos, Garth Wright, AJ Venter, Rob Louw and Warren Brosnihan battle it out in the surf to become the 2014 Springbok Longboard Champion.
The contest will run for an entire week, so everyone can have a chance to watch the competitors and their former rugby heroes as they go head to head for the prestigious title. Cape St Francis Resort has a long history with this event and will again play host to the national competition. It will also be the venue for all social activities planned for the competitors, their families and supporters as well as the general public.
This National Championship will see the major surfing provinces compete in all age groups from junior through to veterans. It caters for both male and female competitors. There is also a chance for several to wine and dine with the Springbok Legends’ at the annual Gala Dinner. After a sumptuous meal, ‘The Brothers’ will be on hand to entertain everyone till the early hours. This is guaranteed to be a fun-filled evening that will sell out fast so don’t miss out!

At least two of the Springboks, Andy Marinos and Warren Brosnihan, will be here for the whole week so one can spot them either at Seals or on at the Resort. The opening ceremony on Sunday 27th April evening is open to all. On the Monday night , 28 April, surf movies will be shown for Free and everyone is welcome to watch them
. On the Tuesday, 29 April, Joe Van Der Linden (from The Brothers) will be playing in the evening – he is also surfing in the competition as part of the Eastern Province team.
On the Friday night, 2 May, there is the gala dinner plus The Brothers from 9pm who will be playing in the Resort pub and everyone can come and site in the deck and listen to them for free.
Proceeds from the gala dinner will be going to Garth Wright’s ‘Iron man 4 kidz’ charity. On the Saturday, 3 May there will be prize giving and closing ceremony at the Resort.
