Investec, the main sponsor, has its marketing ladies down from Johannesburg to help set up all the pits stops – two a day over the four days – and to ensure everything runs like clockwork. Their organisation is brilliant..

They set up a whole lot of pergola type tents at each pit stop offering a wide range of energy juices, water and yummy health foods, including health bars, oranges, crunchies (biscuits), energy bars, pretzels and raisins.

This is the first year of the race and it is most likely to be held annually.  The cyclists spent last night at a tent site set up by Investec at Gamtoos Ferry Hotel. Then today the first pit stop was at the tomato farm and then it was the Links. Tonight the cyclists will overnight at Brakkeduine.

They cycle on average 100 kms a day over three days and the fourth day about 80kms – that is on the last stretch to Plett where the prize giving will be at around lunch time.. Tomorrow night the cyclists will overnight at Storms River.

The cyclists will be arriving in their teams at St Francis Links until about 2 pm today – for those who would like to see them.
