Madiba still in serious but stable condition

Former South African President Nelson Mandela is still in a serious, but stable condition in a Pretoria hospital  says the medical team who is treating him.

President Jacob Zuma last night, 10 June, met with the medical team that is treating Mandela, and they gave him a thorough briefing. “President Zuma has full confidence in the medical team, and is satisfied that they are doing their best to make Madiba better,” the Presidency said in a statement  today, 11 June.

The 94-year-old statesman was admitted in the early hours of Saturday after suffering from a recurring lung infection.

The Presidency has noted media reports that the President is to visit the hospital today, 11 June, to see the former President. “That is incorrect. The President is in Cape Town preparing for the Budget Vote of the Presidency,” the Presidency said.  –
