62 year-old left tied up for hours after robbery

A 62-year-old man from  St Francis Bay was left tied up for several hours in his Otters Landing home after theieves made off with his TV and other goods.

The man managed to extricate himself, believed to be after about five hours, and reported the incident to the police.

According to Gerda Swart, SA Corporarate Communication. the man was at home relaxing on his couch at 1pm on Sunday, 13 April 2014, when he suddenly felt his head was covered with something.    

The suspects tied his hands up and while some of the suspects guarded over him, others searched  the house for valuables.  It is alleged the suspects entered the house through an open kitchen window. 

The suspects fled the scene with electronic equipment (TV, laptop, cellphone, etc and cash).  The complainant managed to free himself after a few hours and drove to the local police station to report it.

Detectives from SAPS St Francis Bay are following up various leads and they hope for a breakthrough in the case soon.

The man’s name has been withheld by the police at the complainant’s request.
