4 thieves stole R300k copper cables from wind farm

A Security guard was attacked and overpowered by four men who stole R300k worth of copper cables from a local wind farm, Bokomland, on Sunday, 18 May.

It is alleged the four suspects tied the security guard up and stole the copper cables from a container before they fled the scene.

A private security guard nearby sped after their vehicle and managed to get the vehicle to leave the road.   The Humansdorp police then arrived and arrested the four suspects.

The SAPS says three suspects aged between the years of 29-50 are due to appear before the Humansdorp Magistrate’s court today, 20 May, on charges of Business Robbery and Possession of Suspected Stolen Property.

SAPS police Captain Marius McCarthy says the excellent working relationship between Humansdorp SAPS and private security resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of copper cables.
